Prompt: Apply Aristotelian Virtue Ethics to the Issue of Abortion. Identify the agents (actors) involved and the action. Discuss the telos of the agents/actions, in an attempt to determine the essence (nature) of the actors/action. Next, to the best of your ability, apply the doctrine of the mean (i.e., identify two opposite extremes (vices) and the mean (virtue) between them). Remember that virtuous actions are carried out in the right way, at the right time, for the right actor, on the right issue, etc. Ask yourself the following questions:
What is the nature of a woman, and does it necessarily or accidentally include motherhood?
What is the nature of a man, and does it necessarily or accidentally include fatherhood?
Does a child necessarily need both parents?
If a child has one loving parent is that enough to constitute the right way, time, etc. for having a child?
Should bad parents be forced to have a child?
