Philosophy- Dualism, Materialism and Identity Theory

One topic:  Must one be a dualist if it is possible to survive one’s bodily death?  Are there materialist scenarios in which one could survive?  Keep in mind, what

survives–the you–must be numerically identical to you now.  A duplicate of you isn’t you.

Another question:  Dualists say that the mind is distinct from the brain.  One objection to the dualist position is that when someone’s brain gets damaged, their

ability to think also gets damaged.  For example, someone in a tragic automobile accident may get significant frontal lobe damage that impairs their ability to do

basic math.  The opponent to dualism can then press the dualist to explain why brain damage affects thinking, when presumably it is the mind that thinks and the mind

is distinct from the brain.  How might the dualist respond to this?
