The assignment is:
You are the research director for Monroe, a city of 40,000 residents. The city is considering sponsoring a city-wide arts program. Similar programs in other cities have included a wide variety of components, such as kids and adult learning programs, performances, art fairs, and purchase of public. Currently the city has no way of paying for this new program, but is considering paying for it by raising property taxes.
You have been asked by the director of Parks and Recreation to gather resident reaction to this idea in terms of support for overall concept, as well as specific program, funding ideas and how the residents would prefer to learn about the arts events.
You have decided to do a phone survey to determine the residents’ likely reactions – who will support, where do they live, likely negative and positive comments, etc — as well as to determine the best approach to getting the public information about the arts program.
Your boss has given you one week to write the phone survey. Based on the budget, you estimate the survey would have 20-25 questions with 4-5 open ended questions. In addition to the needed information noted above, you will also want to capture select demographics of the respondents.
