Let us say that you are going to conduct an intervention study in humans to look at the association between a phytochemical rich food and a specific risk factor related to a chronic disease. Let us say the intervention is for 12 weeks. Please do not find an article and copy from that for this assignment. This has to be original. For this proposed study choose any one specific phytochemical rich food that you would like to research. (a) For this food selected write the phytochemicals present, indicate the class they belong to. (b) What specific outcome (risk factor) would you be interested in studying? What chronic disease is this risk factor predicting? (c) Provide 3 specific scientific rationale for the choice of food and choice of risk factor. (d) Based on what you know about these phytochemicals indicate what results you expect to see and provide one mechanism by which you expect to see these results. (e) How much of the food would you provide as the intervention? What would your comparison group be?
