Poetry close read

Write an essay of 750-1000 words on the poem “Forgiving my Father” from the uploaded materials.
Remember that you need to make a claim or claims about an issue you define.
Try not to go with the most obvious thing about the text–a genuine issue has more than one possible perspective.
Try to be clear without losing complexity. 
Use In-text citations and have a Works Cited page.
Don’t forget to title the essay. A title needs to suggest what the essay is about. It 
cannot be the title of the work you are writing about; it is unique to your essay.

After the essay, list the following (number your responses to correspond with my numbers here):
  1. title and author of text you wrote about in your first essay
  2. title of your essay
  3. issue addressed
  4. claims made
  5. warrants
  6. write your thesis statement here
  7. write the topic sentences of each paragraph
