The first three pages are a explication essay in response to this question
Explore how the poem ( the deserted village) uses the elements of nature, Remember to come up with
a precise thesis. what is the author trying to say with the nature of the poem? How does the poem reflect the concerns
and ideals of the restoration writer? You may use a source to examine the restoration writer.

In regards to the explication essay 3 page part, all three pages must be down in MLA format with in text citations. essay
should have a precise thesis statement that answers the essay question. The essay should focus on the close reading of the

poem. Grades will be based on depth of close reading, the clarity of the thesis statement, and your insight into the poem.

As for the last page (the scansion)
pick any lines you want just as there is enough lines to write a full one page scansion
with the following
1. Scansion to follow all formatting parameters, including courier font, inclusion of virgules, caesurae , accent marks ,

and
hyphenated syllables , and spacing between lines.
2. Correct lexical accents on all words.
3. Divide lines into two syllable feet. The important thing is to make the two syllable division.
