Assessment One
You are employed by a failing garden centre “Roots and Shoots”. You have been tasked with generating ideas for the company designed to exploit an opportunity that you have identified in that market.

You are required to produce a list of creative ideas. You should score the ideas generated in order of preference, you should then reduce the list to a short list of two or three well-researched and creative opportunities within that sector. These opportunities could be for new ventures or new projects or product or business developments.
You will present your ideas in a report of 1200 words (plus Appendices) for consideration by the company owners.
Please ensure that you read the marking criteria attached before completing this assignment.

CRITERIA MARK

1) Generate a wide range of business ideas using appropriate tools and methods (This will be the Appendix to your report)
• Credit will be given for the number of ideas generated
• Credit will be given for the range or ideas generated
• Credit will be given for the creativity of the ideas generate
• Remember that the ideas in this section do not have to be justified
• They do not have to be sensible, reasonable, practical or tasteful
• Remember that this is a safe environment to experiment – Be bold and creative – Try to avoid the safe, the tried and the tested

2) Produce a short list of the strongest ideas,
• The list of ideas generated and contained in the Appendix should be reveiwed and a short list of the best ideas
• You should given the reasons and rationale for your selection
• At this point you should start to consider how reasonable and practical these ideas might be
• However try to avoid falling back on tried and tested ideas that are unlikely to excite your audience
• Remember you are trying to produce something new and creative

3) Report Presentation
• Well expressed, concise and focused with no grammar or spelling errors
• Well presented and good “Readability”, e.g. use of short paragraphs and sentences using clear headings and diagrams if appropriate
• Within the word limit of 1200 words (the Appendix does not count in the word limit)
