Produce a formal, Management Report that develops and expands on the outcomes that were presented to your client.

Order Description

Task 1 – (70% of your Grade) – a maximum of 3000 words
Produce a formal, Management Report that develops and expands on the outcomes that were presented to your client.
This Report should provide a robust academic underpinning for the operational and performance decisions that you made, using/applying models and concepts that were

explored in the module and from your wider reading. Academic underpinning requires you to acknowledge all sources of information that you provide with proper citation

and referencing in the Harvard style.
You should also provide evidence from the research that you conducted, the data that you collected, observations that were made, and your detailed critical analysis of

that data/information.
This will provide a clear support to the conclusions that you arrived at and the recommendations that you made to your client.
(We will do a session on ‘Writing a Management Report’ in class if you feel it is required)

Task 2 – (30% of your Grade) – a maximum of 1000 words
Produce a critical reflection of your individual contribution to the whole project. Critical reflection requires you to analyse your individual contribution and also

how you operated as a group. Here are a few areas that you may consider. Think not only in terms of what you did, but also why actions were taken, what went well and

why, what could have been improved and how, and how you have developed personally over the course of the project and what you would do differently in the future?

The purpose of an Assignment is for you to be able to demonstrate that you have successfully achieved the module Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of the module, you will be able to:
1.    Analyse the importance of effective Sustainable Business Operations and the conditions necessary for effective and efficient work. .(Evaluation and

Integration)

2.    Critically evaluate changes/improvements to services, products and systems and how these impact on operations, and the overall success of the organisation.

(Actions and Improvements to Processes and Analysis through Live projects/cases )

The Assessment Process – Groupwork Phase

1.    Week 7 of the Module: Friday 7th November 2014
We will launch real-life workplace projects in class. You need to have formed yourselves in groups – ideally into groups of 3/4. Emma Simpson and Nicky Cooke – two

senior managers from Rural Action Derbyshire (RAD) will launch the projects and provide a background to RAD and the projects. Feel free to ask preliminary background

questions. Gino will allocate the projects to your groups. We will all be available to deal with any initial questions that you may have about RAD and the projects.

2     Friday 7th Nov 2014 to Monday 19th January 2015
In your groups you will engage with your various projects and the respective ‘clients’ from RAD. Your challenge will be to work with these clients to produce the

‘outcomes’ that they have required from you. Each project will be distinctive and varied; your challenge is to do ‘it’ successfully, and in a professional and engaged

manner.
2.1    The sort of things that you will need to do from 7th Nov-19th Jan:
•    Regular meetings of your group which all of you attend
•    Developing plans and strategies to achieve the objectives
•    Conducting primary and secondary research as required
•    Collecting and Analysing data to develop your understanding of issues.
•    Developing options and priorities in line with the project requirements
•    Attending classes every week and keeping your Tutors and your Clients advised as to progress.
•    Seeking advice and guidance from your Tutor re any areas which are relevant to your project
•    Being aware of and managing the stakeholders of your project

2.2    Delivering Outcomes
A variety of outcomes are required by RAD – depending on your specific project. You will need to agree a deadline with them for delivery of these outcomes. You should

try and deliver outcomes to the client early in the New Year in the format that they require.

2.3    Indicative areas that may need to be addressed in your work for the client
2.3.1    Outline of your project brief and the organisation
2.3.2    A brief diagram of the Inputs-Transformations-Outputs relevant to your task
2.3.3    What are the main conclusions/recommendations to your client?
2.3.4    What are benefits of improving the performance of the operations in line with your project objectives
2.3.5    A brief demonstration of how the company operations can be organised to achieve superior performance and sustainable competitive advantage

2.4    These Presentations will not be marked but at the end of the project you will receive helpful and formative feedback (oral and/or written) from a range of

stakeholders:
2.4.1    from your client
2.4.2    from your fellow group members
2.4.3    from your Tutors

Your Individual Assignment – A Management Report
This is the element of the Assignment that will be marked and will form your overall mark for the Module. The Report is in 2 parts:

(We’ll do a session on critical reflection in class if you feel that is required)
You should refer to and take into consideration some of the evidence that you have collected in your groupwork on the project such as:
•    The feedback from your stakeholders and tutors during the project and at the presentation
•    Primary and secondary research that you collected during the project
•    The data that you collected in an Activity Log that is common to all your activities (the could be added as an Appendix to your Report).

See Grading Scheme below.

You should note however that grades are at this stage provisional only, as submitted assessments are subject to internal and external moderation and validation by the

•    Critical awareness and analysis of the ideas that you explore
•    Synthesis and presentation of key ideas
•    Evaluation of complex matters
•    Integration of ideas and practice in a cross disciplinary manner

Harvard Referencing
This is absolutely vital. You must apply this system of referencing to how you reference in the text and how you present your references in the reference section.  If

you do not know how to do this then you can ask the Business Subject Librarian ([email protected]) for information.  You will also be provided with a set of

power-point slides with citation and referencing information which will help.  If your work is not properly referenced you are likely to see an impact on your

assessment grade.  You also need to make sure that you do not plagiarise as this will result in a fail or worse an inability to pass this year.  If you are unsure what

constitutes plagiarism please check your induction material or visit the on-line Library resources.
HINT:  Have a look at top quality journal articles!
Also:  Refer to the following book which may help your approach and understanding of Harvard referencing:
