For your journal entry, answer these questions:
What were your initial emotional reactions and thoughts when you read that research findings show that, overall, homophobic men then to be more implicitly attracted to other men?
Assuming you know someone who is prejudiced against a group of people because of their race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation (if only though the media), how do defense mechanisms apply to that person’s attitudes and behaviors?
Can you recognize defense mechanisms at work in your own life?  How?
Do you agree that homophobia is explained by reaction formation?  Why or why not?
