The purpose of the Risk Assessment

The final assignment for this course is a risk assessment. The purpose of the Risk Assessment is for you to culminate the learning achieved in the course by proposing an assessment of the risks posed in your chosen scenario to critical infrastructure and other assets of the United States The risk assessment should allow the United States to prepare for the management of the risks to critical infrastructure and other assets and avoid future issues of a similar nature.

For this assignment, you will take on the role of Protective Security Advisor working within the Department of Homeland Security Office of Infrastructure Protection. In this role, your primary mission is to proactively engage with federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial government partners, and members of the private sector stakeholder community to protect critical infrastructure. You are to create an effective and realistic risk assessment to evaluate and prepare for the management of the risks in the scenario you chose in Week Two. The discussions, interactive assignments, and written assignments you have completed throughout this course have included elements of this risk assessment and management of such risks, whether natural, intentional, or technological based on your chosen scenario. Within the risk assessment, you must address the intervention techniques necessary for each risk based on each hazard while incorporating feedback from your previous course work. Be sure to support your statements and techniques from your texts and the nine scholarly and/or professional sources you researched for the Week Two annotated bibliography.

The Risk Assessment must include the following elements.

Begin by reviewing the feedback from your Week Two assignment and then explain how the concepts of risk assessment and risk analysis apply to your chosen scenario. Recommend intervention strategies to deal with critical infrastructure protection. Support your conclusions and recommendations citing research. Identify the steps necessary to implement these strategies. Review the instructor and peer feedback from the discussion you completed in Week Four. Describe how these resources will be fiscally responsible. Evaluate the effectiveness of the critical infrastructure protection standards that were in place (if any) at the time of your chosen scenario. Evaluate the effectiveness of critical infrastructure protection standards in place today in terms of your chosen scenario. Develop appropriate standards for protection of this critical infrastructure sector in the future. Justify your recommendations for the standards you developed for the future protection of this critical infrastructure sector. Examine the impacts of actual and suspected threats. Analyze how actual and suspected hazards impact public policy and critical infrastructure protection within your chosen scenario. Analyze the recognition of real and perceived threats and the management of risk. Assess the process for sharing information between communities and agencies, the collaboration of resources, and the management of risk. Explain how the media influenced agency operations at the time within your scenario. Recommend how the media could be used to positively influence the outcome of the situation. Evaluate the ethical and legal issues of risk assessment and management. Assess the ethical implications of the actions taken to manage the risks. Determine the legal issues and policies associated with risk assessment. Create appropriate recommendations for implementing the ethical and legal issues determined to be most effective in your risk assessment. The Risk Assessment:

Must be 13 to 15 double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
