Read and annotate (added notes, comments, and/or questions to in the margins, and marked key points) the fairytale. Be sure you have read and annotated (added notes, comments, questions, and/or marked key points) ONE fairytale. Use the following guidelines to write essay for Module Two.

a.    The introduction should include important information about the fairytale. Tell the name of the fairytale and the author. The last sentence of the first paragraph should state the thesis (the single most important idea) of the fairy tale in your own words.

b.    Write at least two paragraphs that explain how key points from the fairy tale support the main idea of the fairy tale. Be sure to include examples from the fairy tale to support your ideas, but do not retell the plot. You must include at least one quote from the fairy tale.

c.    Write a paragraph or two that shows how the fairytale relates to today’s world/society. For example, to what extent does the fairytale accurately portray female or male roles? Why or how are fairytales applicable to people today?

d.    Write two or three paragraphs that show how the fairytale relates to another text you have read. Include at least one quote from the scholarly article by Maria Tatar. HINT: You can use answers from your close reading exercise to help with this section of your essay.

e.    Write two or three paragraphs that show how the fairytale relates to an audiovisual work. For example, how does this fairy tale compare to your favorite movie, play, musical, television show, or the Disney version of the fairy tale?

f.    Write two or three paragraphs that show how the fairytale relates to you. For example, which character is most like you and why?

g.    The concluding paragraph should allow the essay to come to a natural close. In other words, when you read your essay aloud to proofread, your essay should sound as though you have come to the end of what you want to say. It is not necessary to restate your thesis statement, but be sure that you do not introduce a new idea in the conclusion.

i.    JOURNAL ASSIGNMENT: in an entry titled “Revising Checklist Answers for P2,” Use the revising checklist questionnaire to review your essay. Write the answers to the questions in the journal entry. Do not simply answer the questions with “yes” or “no.”  Briefly explain what you will change in the essay during revisions.
