Task:

This task has 2 parts.

Part 1:
Select three (3) reading assessment tools currently used in schools from the choices below. One must include a commercially produced diagnostic normative assessment tool currently used in schools.

TORCH – Tests of Reading Comprehension

YARC – York Assessment of Reading Comprehension

For each of the three assessment tools you will outline the following (500 words for each tool):
1. What element of reading is being assessed?
2. How is it being assessed?
3. Who is it suitable for?
4. Type of assessment?
5. Is there an evidence-base for this assessment tool?
Part 2:
Select one (1) of the reading assessment tools and justify its use. You can discuss this assessment tool in relation to a single student or a specific cohort of students.

For this section (1000 words) you will outline the following:
1. A brief profile of student/students
2. Outline why this tool is appropriate for the student/students
3. Justify discussion with clear linkages to research. Consider any limitations
