Throughout the course you have been asked to consider the course concepts as they apply to your own job, environment, industry and experience. Hopefully this allowed you to do
real-life analyses of course content. Based on your work throughout the course, you should be able to do an assessment of either yourself, your team, or organization (past or present) as related to the
course content overall. As this assignment is of a confidential nature, it is not necessary that you name your team or study organization. Your paper will not be read by anyone other than your instructor.
Your assignment consists of three parts:
Part A Introduction of Focus (approx. 1 page)
This section is to provide details of the focus of your study. E.g. if you are studying yourself, then provide the relevant background. For a team, you may want to describe the structure and the team members and its function. For an organization you might consider size, structure, industry, and work climate. Provide the details that you think are relevant to your subsequent analysis and recommendations.
Part B Analysis (approx. 2-4 pages)
Consider the major topics in the course. Explain how three course topics relate to your
focus area E.g. you may look at communication, conflict management and change as it affected a department that had to
change computer systems. If you are doing a self-study, you might assess your leadership, value system and organizational commitment.
Part C Recommendations (approx. 2-4 pages)
If your analysis uncovers a problem, you should make some recommendation about future actions. If your paper looks at successful interactions, you will need to consider why they have been successful, and how success can be maintained for the future.
The format should be consistent with business writing—e.g. use of subheadings, point form, etc. Consider format to help emphasize your ideas, points and recommendations. This assignment is to be done individually and submitted as an email attachment via the course site.
Please contact your instructor if you have any questions.
