Students will be required to:
Play several free online games and keep a diary of their experience. They will be asked to reflect on their own degree of engagement with the game, identify the
underlying game elements, and judge affordances and constraints of highlighted elements in language teaching and learning (30%). 1000 words
Design a game-enhanced (game-based or gamified) scenario stemming from their own experience as teachers and/or learners of a second language (70%). Building on course
contents, students will write a short essay (~2500 words) describing how to use game elements, whether in video games, through gamified VLE, or in a gamified class
setting, to enhance students’ motivation and engagement with learning processes and materials.
