Reflections for Teaching Mathematics Prep-Grade 2 around the theme ‘Environmental Sustainability’

Paper, Order, or Assignment Requirements

Its for Master of Primary Education, from my point of view it should fall in education but online help chat has suggested me that it will come under Mathematics!!!

Assessment overview
The purpose of this assessment folio is to produce a collection of information, resources and reflections for teaching mathematics to a chosen primary year level.
Assessment details
You are required to produce a folio of teaching resources for either a F-2 class, 3-4 class or a 5-6 class, around the theme ‘environmental sustainability’.
Demonstrate your understanding of the three modules in the unit learning materials:
Ø Module A: Number and Algebra
Ø Module B: Measurement and Geometry
Ø Module C: Statistics and Probability

The aim of this assessment is for you to produce a completed unit of work for either a F-2 class, 3-4 class or 5-6 class. You will demonstrate your understanding of the needs of the class by using the information presented by each teacher who you meet throughout modules A-C.
Your unit of work will include the following items:
Introduction: A detailed introduction contextualising the folio (250 words).
Overview: A unit of work overview linking to the theme (500 words).
Development of mathematical concepts: Examination and evaluation of the development of mathematical concepts explored within the unit of work (500 words).
Lesson sections: Sections of two lessons with reflective dialogue and pedagogical justification (500 words); these won’t be complete lesson plans, but will be sections of lesson plans
Activity: An example of one activity which demonstrate inclusive methods of teaching and learning for the whole class. This must be different to the previous lessons (250 words).
Resources: Analysis of one resource included within the unit of work (250 words); this resource may be any type (physical, technological, a person etc.).

Conclusion: A detailed conclusion summarising how you would assess the class and transition to the next unit of work / mathematical theme (250 words).

Assessment criteria
1. Demonstrated understanding of the practice of teaching and assessing mathematics in the primary context.
2. Demonstrates personal and professional reflection and evaluation.
3. Demonstrated understanding of contemporary mathematics pedagogy through links to theories, models and perspectives.
4. Uses appropriate writing conventions, including APA style referencing, punctuation, grammar, spelling, sentence structure and word choice (academic and information literacy).

Ø Your folio demonstrates a highly developed and insightful discussion into the practical application of contemporary theories, models and perspectives of Mathematics teaching, learning and assessment.
Ø This is evident within the detailed unit of work and critical analysis evaluating the unit of work which presents ideas that are challenging, effectively matched to the needs and capabilities of primary-aged learners and addresses 21st century numeracy demands.
Ø You reflective dialogue on the elements of two lesson plans offers highly sophisticated justification into pedagogical approaches.
Ø You have demonstrated innovative and insightful interpretation of inclusive methods of teaching and learning for the whole class by detailing one mathematics activity.
Ø You have demonstrated complete understanding of the Australian Curriculum content by analysing one resource from your unit of work.
Ø You have illustrated rigorous evaluation of appropriate methods of mathematics assessment and how you can transition the class to the next unit of work/mathematical theme.
Ø This demonstrates an insightful vision of your future practice as a mathematics teacher.
Ø Across all sections, your writing is concise and logical, with richly integrated ideas that convey meaning and purpose.
Ø Your use of literature across all sections of the folio demonstrates familiarity with the current field of research and your statements are consistently supported with relevant and recent references.
Ø Flawless use of APA referencing style is evident and there are no errors in spelling, grammar or punctuation.
