Answer the following:

Grade point average (GPA) is often assumed to measure the intelligence of a student
relative to that of other students. However, GPA may not be a perfect measurement.

1. Give two reasons why GPA may not be reliable as a measure of the intelligence
of college students. Reliability means consistency: if you measure the same thing
on different occasions, you’ll get the same result. Why might someone’s GPA
be different when measured at different times (which would show that it’s
an unreliable way to measure a student’s intelligence)?

2. Give two reasons why GPA may not be valid as a measure of the intelligence
of college students. Validity means accuracy: your method of measuring actually
measures what it’s supposed to. Why might GPA not actually measure someone’s
intelligence (which would show it’s an invalid measurement)?
