At times we can generate a regression equation to explain outcomes.  For example, an employee’s salary can often be explained by their pay grade, appraisal rating, education level, etc.  What variables might explain or predict an outcome in your life?  If you generated a regression equation, how would you interpret it and the residuals from it?

One example in my life is weight. I am trying to have weight loss surgery. I have to go through a 6 month diet program. I have to see a sleep doctor to see if I have sleep apnea. I have to go through a support group meeting. I have to have physical therapy. If I comply with the requirements the outcome will be that I can be approved for the surgery but if I do not comply I cannot have the surgery.
