Research Cesarean Section Trend

Scenario:

As a data specialist in the research department at the medical center, you are investigating the prevalence of cesarean section rates.  Dr. Jenkins chairs the surgical committee and has been asked to research and compare statistics that include first births, repeat births, and vaginal births after previous cesarean delivery (VBAC) in low-risk pregnancies.

Public data is accessible through the Centers for Disease Control on the table entitled “Live Births by Method of Delivery and Rates of Cesarean Delivery and Vaginal Birth after previous cesarean delivery, by race and Hispanic origin of mother.

Assignment:

1.  Dr. Jenkins has asked you to review the national data comparing the most recent year available with available historic information for comparison on race and VBACs.  As you are reading through the report, you may also find other interesting statistical information.  You are welcome to report on VBACs or any other statistical finding in this report.  Pick two topics.

2.  Develop a written summary of the findings for two different topics/ categories / statistical information.

3.  Create at least two graphical representation’s representing the findings for the two topics or  all races and VBACs .
