Research Paper: Landscape Case Study;

Students will prepare a political ecological analysis of a landscape of their choice. Students can select an issue/ landscape from the many themes seen in class:
landscape urbanism- use ShenZhen (city of south China)as an example for the case study.
The goal of the paper is to demonstrate your understanding of the political ecology of a particular landscape and the power relations that shapes/shaped it.

The first part of your paper should include:
1) a descriptive title;2)an argument or thesis or research question;
3)a short literature review of your topic (of at least 5 journal articles or books from or outside our class readings.) For example, if you choose a topic related to landscape resistance, explain how such issue situates in the literature (what author have said about it)

The second part of your paper will focus on the interconnections of political and ecological processes shaping a particular landscape. I suggest that you focus on 3-4 points rather than a laundry list of points that will inevitably lead to a more superficial analysis.
