Introduction:

The ability to research and write are critical skills to solving complex business problems and communicating effectively within an organization. For this task, you will demonstrate competency in business research and writing as well as explore business content related to your field of study by creating two separate documents: a business report, and a presentation.

Task:

A. Select a scenario from the attached “Scenario List.”

B. Prepare a business report based on three research findings that includes the following:

Note: Your paper must incorporate, at a minimum, eight separate references, which are to be organized into three research findings that relate to your chosen scenario. It is recommended that at a minimum, at least one reference is provided to support each of your research findings. Use the WGU library, internet search engine, or other source to locate appropriate references that relate to your chosen scenario.

Note: Before working on this task please review the attached “RWT1 Business Report Template” to review the recommended formatting for your part B document.

1. Table of contents

2. Executive summary (suggested length of 1 page) that provides an overview of the report

3. Introduction (suggested length of 1 page) that explains the subject and purpose of the report

4. Body of the report (suggested length of 3–5 pages) that includes the following:

a. Describes the three research findings gathered during your investigation

b. Analyzes how the three research findings gathered during your investigation will affect the company in your chosen scenario

c. Provides at least three actionable recommendations to management based on your research findings

i. Justify your recommendations.

5. Conclusion that includes the following:

a. Summarize the three main research findings.

b. Summarize the benefits of your three recommendations.

6. Reference page for all references cited in the report, including at least eight references that correspond to your in-text citations

C. Create a multimedia presentation (e.g., PowerPoint, Keynote)(suggested length of 8–10 slides) for the audience in your chosen scenario that includes the following:

• Introduction

• Three main research findings

• Your three recommendations

• The justification for your three recommendations

D. When you use sources to support ideas and elements in a paper or project, provide acknowledgement of source information for any content that is quoted, paraphrased or summarized. Acknowledgement of source information includes in-text citation noting specifically where in the submission the source is used and a corresponding reference, which includes:

• Author

• Date

• Title

• Location of information (e.g., publisher, journal, or website URL)

TOPIC:

As a partner in a new business, one of your roles is to review information technology tools available to assist you in a certain aspect of your business (e.g., marketing, accounting, sales, quality assurance, customer service, etc.). Research and analyze three different providers of one technology and consider their potential impact on your business.
Possible research topics/search terms include (but are not limited to):
• Video/Web conferencing- Skype, Adobe Connect, FaceTime, Cisco WebEx, GoTo Meeting, Microsoft Lync, etc.
• Social media- Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
• Cloud computing- Dropbox, Google Drive, SugarSync, etc.
• Tablet PCs- HP, Samsung, Apple, Microsoft
• Enterprise resource planning (ERP)- Oracle, SAP, Sales Force, etc.
• Accounting software- Peachtree, Quiken, TurboTax, etc.

Note: The use of APA citation style is encouraged but is not required for this task. Evaluators will offer feedback on the acknowledgement of source information but not with regard to conformity with APA or other citation style. For tips on using APA style, please refer to the APA Resources web link found under General Information/APA Guidelines in the left-hand panel in Taskstream.
