Same sex attraction
Same sex attraction and behavior are not
necessarily coupled. While attraction is
biologically based, behavior depends upon
cultural standards and permissiveness. Discuss this
nature/ nurture issue and the decoupling of same
sex sexuality from homosexuality as it was discussed in class. Provide examples from different societies where, in their view, “homosexuality” is not “homosexual.” Hint You might wish to use the framework I provided in lecture where I discussed 4 or 5 instances where same sex behavior was not considered to be homosexual by the individuals who performed the act.
