Security Design Project

Considering all reading and course discussions, design the physical security requirements for a privately owned three-story office and paper and computer storage facility. This question requires you to incorporate all the major points from the course reading and discussions: physical design, CPTED, physical security, barriers, locks, lighting, IDS, entry control and CCTV/recording. The greater the detail/application of each of these and other security measures the greater your score. As a basis for your physical security requirements, ensure you incorporate standards, guidelines, best practices and/or other resources that are properly cited via in-text citations and references. Superior projects that receive high scores will include numerous standards, guidelines, etc (particularly those from ASIS, other organizations, and government sources).

Projects should be a “minimum” of seven pages (not including a reference page, diagrams, charts, lists, appendices, etc.) and “not” exceed 10 pages. As this is not a standard research paper, a cover page or abstract are “not” to be included. However, your project should include an introduction, body (various physical security elements to be included in and around the building), and conclusion. For organizational purposes, make certain you use headings and sub-headings (“per the APA”) in your project. Headings should include the various physical security components (barriers, etc.). “Sub”-headings are and the supporting standards, etc.

References must be on a standard/separate (stand alone) APA reference page (titled References at the top center of the page). Recall to adhere to the APA for reference formatting: double space, use a second/third line 0.5” hanging indent, alphabetize, only first initials for first names, etc. There is no minimum, but eight to 10 are highly recommended for a superior score. These sources should support your physical security design/component choices and supporting standards, guidelines, best practices, etc.

Tips to Avoid Loss of Points: Follow all above instructions. All in-text (body) citations used in your project must have a corresponding reference listed on the reference page (and vice versa). Do not use contractions (don’t isn’t) and do not write in first/second person (“I,” “me,” “you,” and “her/him”…) in academic writing. Double space the entire document (avoid extra spacing between sections, paragraphs, etc. – look closely as it can be deceptive). Lastly, write in three to seven sentence paragraphs only (common point loss).

Helpful APA Notes: Ensure you follow APA standards for margins (1″) and new paragraph indentation (0.5″), and use page headers/numbers (top of page). A title page or abstract are “not” necessary.

Projects must be submitted/uploaded into Assignments as an attached “MS Word” document only for grading.

Your project will be automatically uploaded to Turnitin.com and an originality report will be generated for you. No action is needed on your part.
