The topic (area of interest): The use of L1 in an EFL classroom.
1. Mean stream stance: Foreign language teachers should maximize their use of the target language (TL). Thus, L1 is not appropriate in EFL classrooms. There should be several studies that show and present L1 as forbidden, harmful, and useless in an EFL classroom. While introducing these studies, a critical analysis should be provided throughout the whole section.
2.Critical Stance: There is a place for the teachers to use the students L1 in their pedagogy in EFL classroom. Again there should be a critical analysis while discussing the critical claim. Here, there should be several studies that oppose the main stream stance. Connect and analyze critically.
