Generally speaking in most societies around the world sexual relationships outside of marriage are strongly prohibited. From an anthropological standpoint, however, the rules against outside sex may be circumvented in different ways. Discuss some of the ways in which societies legitimize certain outside sexual practices and the ways individuals in these societies justify their actions. Hint: discuss the idea of survival sex as opposed to prostitution.
