Social Norms

Short writing assignment for psychology class.
3 paragraphs minimum, no longer than 2 pages over an exercise the
professor assigned.
Use and define psychology terms, halo effect and attractiveness.
appropriate definition and example of concept (social norm) (worth 20 points)

The exercise was, in another classroom raise your hand to ask a
question to the teacher. Instead of raising one hand, raise both
hands. Explain how you felt, what was the reaction of the teacher, and
others around you.

I attended my daughter’s kindergarten orientation and raised both
hands to ask a question regarding the students dress code. The
principles reaction as she slightly giggled was “You must have an
important question?” The reaction of those around me, some women
raised their eye brows as they seemed surprised at my actions while
another father beside me had a large smile and seemed to giggle a
little. I felt embarrassed and definitely started to blush, I wanted
the principle to answer the question quickly and move the attention
else where.
