For Content Essay 2, you will have two options. Please choose to write on only Option A or only Option B. (Be sure to produce a well-written, well-organized essay that is at least 1000 words. Do not forget to cite information you use from the text by page number. If you use a direct quote, it also must be enclosed in quotation marks.)

Option A: Use Chapter 7. Define social stratification and (using text information) determine and discuss where the family you grew up in fit into your society’s system of social stratification. Then, discuss how your family’s social class influenced the following areas of your life when growing up: physical and mental health, nutrition, housing, and education. (You should make use of concepts from the text such as life chances and social mobility.)

Option B: Use Chapter 10. Clearly differentiate between gender role and gender identity. Then discuss how you learned your gender role and how you acquired your gender identity. (Hint: You may want to review gender socialization from Ch 3.) In this discussion, make use of the idea of socialization into gender. You may want to discuss how at least THREE of the following agencies of socialization contributed to your gender role development and your gender identity: your parents, your peer groups, your teachers and schools, your sports experience, and the media.
