Solution Couple

Solution Couple

? Read the Vignette, “Couple,” on page 204 and assess this couple from a solution-focused perspective addressing the following issues:
o How would the presenting problem be conceptualized from this perspective?
o What would be some examples of interventions from this perspective?
o Describe the role of the counselor from this perspective.

Case study:

Reynaldo (a Cuban American male) and Sue (from the england) are a couple married in their mid-thirties. They have no children; however they report that they would like to have children in a near future. Reynaldo and Sue initiated counseling due to their inability to resolve conflict in the relationship. Reynaldo and Sue report that when a conflict arises Sue withdraws because Reynaldo will ?explode? and become loud and ?verbally abusive?. Reynaldo states that he has displayed this type of ?irrational? behavior since childhood and that his parents would often ignore his outbursts. Sue reports that yelling and verbal abuse have to stop before they have children.
