sonatas by Brahms

analysis and comparison of the clarinet and viola versions of the Two sonatas for clarinet (or Viola) And piano Op.120 by Johannes Brahms

Please use as many sources/references as you can find.

These two sonatas are originally written for the clarinet but are unique because the composer himself transcribed them for a different instrument.

I’m a clarinetist and these two sonatas are such big and important repertoire for the instrument. It was interesting to see that Brahms transcribed these for the viola so I decided to make this my topic for the paper.

Please be aware that a dissertation done by someone on the same topic is available online if you do some research on google.
