Storage and Disposal of Nuclear Waste

You have been employed by NuclearRUS as a waste scientist, and have been asked by the company to propose a method of treating, or utilising further,U (Uranium) /Pu (Plutonium) /Am (Americium) from spent nuclear fuel. ***Please note that you must Indicate in the proposal the following: 1­ the advantages your method has over others in use or which have been proposed ­ it does not have to be new, it can be an application of an existing waste technology. 2­ Any testing required to get regulatory approval, e.g. NRC ( Nuclear Regulatory Commission) / DOE (Department of energy) in the US. 3­ How it modifies the long term GDF (Geological Disposal Facility) options being proposed, e.g. deep disposal. 4­ An indication of the cost of your proposed technology, i.e. initial costs in fabrication, costs in repository storage etc. These do not need to absolute, they can be relative to other options available. * Write a properly referenced 3300 word document proposing a waste treatment and storage option, with a conclusion indicating why NuclearRUS should invest in this technology
