Your audit for the organization you choose will have the following four sections:
o The first (industry analysis) contains information about the industry, describing the products/services, scope, competitive dynamics, consolidation activity (including strategic alliances), emerging technologies, government regulation, etc. (This is the analysis of the opportunities and threats facing the organization.) This part of the assignment should be approximately three pages.
o The second section of this assignment is the company/organization analysis. You will present its strengths and weaknesses as well as its current mission statement, objectives and strategies. Be sure to include an assessment of its core values and products. (The assigned and suggested readings will help you with the section.) This section should be 3-5 pages.
o The third section is your leadership analysis. Analyze the CEO and other key top executives from a leadership perspective. Explain the type of leadership style he/she demonstrates and give examples of how he/she has acted that reflects this style. Explain whether or not you feel the leader’s style has been appropriate for the company over the past 5-10 years.
o The fourth section is your Proposed Strategic Plan for the organization in which you will make recommendations for a 3-5 year planning horizon. This section should be 3-5 pages and include recommendations for:
? A mission statement (it may be different from the one the organization currently has).
? Three recommended objectives and at least two corresponding strategies for each objective.
? The recommended organizational structure and culture you believe the organization needs in order to achieve your recommended objectives
• This should include recommendations for the company’s core values and products (they may be different than the ones you identified in the second section
? A description of the leadership style and other characteristics (skills, experience, personality etc.) of the leader you feel the organization should have to successfully carry out your proposed Strategic Plan.
