The prime objective of a US$ 800 million road infrastructure project in a Latin American country is to reduce transport costs for users of provincial roads through the improvement of the quality of those roads. The project will involve the rehabilitation, upgrading and reconstruction of some 200 kilometers of provincial roads into a super highway…The objective is to improve economic competiveness of the region which is one of the poorest in the country. The project will take some land from local residents in the area and may have some environmental implications although commercial businesses will gain from this opportunity.
