Debate Question

Organisational Learning (OL).

There are strong theoretical assertions that OL is crucial for organisational survival and success, but needs to be managed appropriately or the potential benefits will be eliminated.
“According to several research reports in the past 12 months, skills shortages in the UK are hampering productivity and holding back the pace of recovery. At the end of last year, Kevin Green, chief executive of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), said that there were 43 areas of skills shortage, compared with just nine in 2013” (Personnel Today, 22nd January 2015).
Having read the recommended articles below you will need to prepare for and address the following questions:

1    Examine whether the recent recession has driven or inhibited OL strategy

2    Analyse whether an effective OL strategy can be instrumental in achieving competitive advantage.

3    Evaluate the applicability of an OL strategy for SME’s.

You will need to illustrate your research via current industry examples citing your sources of reference.
