Everyone has different stress triggers. Work stress tops of the list. There are number of key factors causing the employees stress either from workplace, external or personal. Employees stress is a growing concern for organizations today. Stress experienced by the employees in their job has negative impact on their health, performance and their behaviour in the organisation. The early signs of stress can be notice easily such as tense, depression, high blood pressure, short temper, restlessness and a general inability to concentrate and it is very important managers are alert to such warnings [Stone 2011].
Family stress is often caused by the conflict of going to work and not only to cope with challenges at work but also with stress that take along with to work.  Workplace stress can result in physical, psychological, behavioural and emotional changes that can ultimately result in poor performance, job loss and other health related issues as well. Work related stress is a growing problem around the world that affects not only the health and well being of employees but also the productivity of organisations.
Identifying the causes of stress in the workplace helps in the process of assessing and controlling the hazards and risks. Under OHS law employers are required to provide and maintain a healthy and safe working environment and systems of work to eliminate risks [OHS 2006]. The risk management process is recommended for the prevention of work-related stress. It is important that everyone in the workplace understands the procedures for reporting and addressing work-related stress [Stone 2011]. When a report of work-related stress is made, the employer must determine the source and act to reduce risk within reasonable time frame. Stress in workplace is just as important as any other health and safety risk.Discuss!
