Your esignment is in the area of comparing the summer program of duties between Texas AgriLife Extension Agents (CEA’s) (such as in Family & Consumer Sciences[FCS], or Cooperative Extension Program [CEP] agents, or maybe extension Research Scientists or other extension program specialists, and/or it might be a District Extension Agent [DEA], or perhaps a 4-H & Youth Development [4-H] agent, or it could be a Horticulture [Hort], and/or a Coastal & Marine Resources [C&MR] agent, or even a simple ol’ Agriculture & Natural Resources [AgNR] agent, versus two Agriculture Science Teachers [AST’s]. ) This will deal with each of these assigned individual’s summer duties, expectations, job role(s), etc.

These advanced special topics courses, deal with the characteristics of ‘Shadowing Professional Colleagues’ in extension & agriculture science programs.  (Read complete Esignment thoroughly.)

Esignment:    Your esignment is in the area of comparing the summer program of duties between Texas AgriLife Extension Agents (CEA’s) (such as in Family & Consumer Sciences[FCS], or Cooperative Extension Program [CEP] agents, or maybe extension Research Scientists or other extension program specialists, and/or it might be a District Extension Agent [DEA], or perhaps a 4-H & Youth Development [4-H] agent, or it could be a Horticulture [Hort], and/or a Coastal & Marine Resources [C&MR] agent, or even a simple ol’ Agriculture & Natural Resources [AgNR] agent, versus two Agriculture Science Teachers [AST’s]. ) This will deal with each of these assigned individual’s summer duties, expectations, job role(s), etc.  (Note: their schedules, along with your summer schedule will be quite busy, so I recommend NOT putting off getting started on this esignment, ASAP.)  {Just a friendly ‘word to the wise.’}

(This assignment will suffice for both of the summer courses, but it must be well done.)

Address each of these and respond to such issues as:
a.    What makes each of them unique (unto themselves)?
b.    What makes them similar to each other?
c.    What sets them apart, and thus, makes them different?
d.    How are they accountable to their agrarian citizens?
e.    How do they measure and evaluate this accountability to their supervisors?
f.    How do they interact with agrarian students and adults during the summer time months?
&
g.    Spend a complete day with: **(see **asterisks at end of written esignment)  1) a Texas A&M AgriLife FCS agent; {I recommend Ms. Yolanda Scrivner-Morado of Starr County, e-scrivner-morado@tamu.edu [500 N. Britton Ave., Rio Grande City, 956.487.2306]}.  2) an extension agent that works for and is funded and supported by the CEP; {I recommend Ms. Crisanta Mussett of Webb County, [email protected] [7209 E. Saunders St., Ste. 5, Laredo, 956.721.2626]}.  3) a 4-H extension agent for youth programs; {I recommend Mr. Al Lopez of Hidalgo County,  [email protected] [410 N. 13th Ave., Edinburg, 956.383.1026]}. & 4) an AgNR agent; {I recommend Mr. Roberto Valdez of Zapata County, [email protected] [607 North US Highway 83, Zapata, 956.765.9967]}.  5) For an AST that serves as a small school program coordinator for his/her school district; {I recommend Mr. Ernesto Villarreal of  Dr. Leo Cigarroa High School, [email protected] or [email protected] [2600 Zacatecas, Laredo, 956.273.6866]}.  And for 6) an AST that is at a larger school district that employs more than one AST at that school;   {I recommend Mr. Gilbert Perez III of Roma High School, [email protected]  [P.O. Box 187, Roma, 956.849.2655] (three high school AST’s in this school that must work together)}.  *(Notice, all of the agents (CEA’s) are to be from different counties.)  (The two Agriculture Science Teachers (AST’s) must come from separate ISD’s.)

h.    [Do an interview with all of them during the day’s activities.]
* Assess all of their professional programs during a typical summer, along with their involvement with any youth programs during these out of school weeks in cooperation with those programs.
i.    **In this exercise, select and utilize dedicated, professional examples of CEA’s and (hopefully) AST’s for your subjects of study.  In other words, use only agents and teachers that have proven themselves as being dedicated to their career field(s) and are considered more appropriate as role models for younger CEA’s/AST’s to emulate.  This means they (he or she in each position) will have completed and been awarded an advanced college degree within their field (at least an M.S.).

j.     Note: (List the institutions from which ALL six professionals received all of their degrees.)

•    Submit a signed and dated form from each professional stating the date and time spent together completing the requirements of this exercise (on their letterhead) with your written narrative of the esignment upon completion.  Obviously, none of these visitations will occur on the same date.

•    Course Grading:         Quality of work & completeness      =    100%

•    There will be NO need for a meeting time and/or seminar presentation of work done for this summer esignment, as the narrative explanations will suffice.  Final work is due to me by the last summer class date of August 4th.
