Explain how nurses are moral agents/advocates for their patients. For example, how we advocate for those patients who are deemed incompetent to make decisions for themselves. We, as nurses, cannot make those decisions for them but it is our responsibility that the patient is getting the best care and make sure there is someone making those decisions for the patient appropriately.

what skills, dispositions, and/or strategies would help the nurse fulfill this role?

What values and principles guide the nursing profession; any leadership and management competencies that guide nurses in being a moral agent; and values and reasons for one entering the profession.

What motivation do you see for taking a stand on an important issue even when it is difficult to do so?
