FOCUS PAPER TWO ASSIGNMENT DUE IN CLASS FRIDAY, JUNE 6TH
SUGGESTED MINIMUM 2200 WORDS:NEW VALUE FOR PAPER: 21 POINTS
This paper is called TEN NEW RULES FOR RETAILING. It is based on five new rules from the Lewis article and five from Flaster and how seven of them are being applied by your focus store and its chosen competitor. The paper ends with seven recommendations for your focus store based on the same seven rules you have chosen and studied.
For the seven rules you wish to study, choose the five from the Lewis article and two from the Flaster “five”. Obviously, you need to do the same five for parts two, three and four of your paper. Ignore the second page which has been posted with the Lewis article by accident. It will be used later in the course, is about customer information search, and has nothing to do with this assignment. If you chose and do more than two from Flaster, you can get more credit. BUT you cannot do more of Flaster’s instead of Lewis’
All rules for paper one are the same, including written requirements. The cover sheet now must include clear specific information for your competitor as well as focus store. The letter of introduction given you should be used to acquire specific information from your focus store.
PART ONE: FIFTY WORD INTRODUCTION TELLING PURPOSE OF PAPER. There is a one point deduction for not having it, but no addition for doing it unless, of course, it is outstanding.
PART TWO: SEVEN RULES AND HOW YOUR FOCUS STORE IS USING THEM. As indicated above, chose seven and clearly label them whenever you use them in parts two, three and four. This part should be numbered one through seven, and each should mention the rule and tell in detail how your focus store is using it. Minimum of 100 words for each of seven. More detail will get you greater credit.
PART THREE: HOW COMPETITOR WITH NAME IS APPLYING THESE SAME SEVEN RULES. Using the same seven rules as in part two and naming them again from one to seven, compare and contrast how your competitor is using each of these rules. Minimum of 100 words for each of seven. More detail will get you greater credit.
PART THREE: RECOMMENDATIONS. Make seven properly stated recommendations for your focus store for each of the same seven rules as the two previous sections in the same order and clearly naming them. Be sure to refer to your previous discussion to support each recommendation. Minimum of 100 words for each of seven. More detail will get you greater credit.
CONCLUSION: Minimum of 50 words on what you learned from doing this paper. No credit for doing it but a one point deduction for not doing it. Possibly extra credit if it is outstanding.
