we went on a trip to Fort Vale company, an international company that manufactures valves and pipes..etc.
We have to write a report as if we were working as engineers in that company. however we MUST follow what the tutor emailed us which is:
I have given this advice to a few of you so I thought I would share it will the whole class. It is important that when you leave here in a few years you will be able to write professional reports for your line managers. One of the most important skills is writing for the correct audience. For example, if you were a design engineer working at Fort Vale you would definitely not start paragraphs with sentences like… ‘Casting is one of the oldest manufacturing processes. It involves melting metal and pouring it into a……’ Of course your boss probably knows more about casting than you do!
Make sure you focus your report on how to make the valve in question, and not on how to make valves in general. Targeting your audience is a subtle skill and I don’t expect you will all get it right first time, but it is time to start practising. This should also help keep the word count down.
Place an order in 3 easy steps. Takes less than 5 mins.
