For your research paper you will focus on the work of a major British author.
This paper will revolve around the piece of literature you read on your own during the second semester. As you research, you should develop an original thesis. Your thesis should synthesize historical, cultural, biographical, religious, or social ideas that can be related to the creative piece you read for your book report. Your thesis statement should be an arguable opinion.
You will research the life of the author and find out how his life presents an interesting story. You will need to make a connection from the author’s life to the work which you have read.
Your essay should cite outside resources, but the main source will be the novel you read.
This paper is different from a literary criticism because you are going to develop an original thesis based on your own research. You should not need to use literary criticism as a source.
