RESEARCH REPORTReports are used to describe research findings, analyze those findings, and make recommendations. When writing a report, writers need to do more than present the facts. Writers also need to interpret their results and help readers understand the information they have collected. Research reports are designed to describe research methods, analyze findings, and make recommendations.
For this assignment, write a 4-5 page Research Report in which you explore the broad issue of ‘Money’. You should narrow your topic in a fashion of your choice—you may even expand your research paper by including an empirical study. The following SIX sections should be included in your Research Report along with the Works Cited and Appendixes:
Executive summary or abstract: summarizes the major sections of the report.
Introduction: defines a research question or problem and explains why it is important to the reader. The introduction clearly states the purpose and main point of the report, and provides background information on the topic.
Methods:describes how the research was carried out. Explain your methods step by step in a way that would allow your readers to replicate your research. Each major step will usually receive at least one paragraph of coverage. Explain how you did each step and why you did it that way.
Results/Findings:presents the results of the research objectively. Choose two to five most important findings/results from your research and describe what you found. Where possible, use graphics, such as charts, graphs, and tables, to present the data you’ve collected.
Discussion:analyzes the results and explains what they mean. Show how your results answer your research question. Sometimes this section can be merged with the previous section of Results/Findings.
Conclusion/Recommendations:restates the main point of the report and offers specific recommendations. Your goal is to leave your readers with a clear sense of what you discovered and what should be done about it.
Works Cited/Appendices: Provide bibliographic information for any sources you have cited in MLA format. Include any other materials you collected or created such as surveys, questionnaires, perhaps charts, graphs, or other documents that your reader might find useful.
ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY:For this assignment, you must write an analysis of FIVE sources, and compile the sources into an Annotated Bibliography. An Annotated Bibliography is a compilation of cited sources, grouped around a defined focus (your topic), with annotations, for each source.  The annotated bibliography is a research tool that guides a reader towards meaningful sources, not useless or outdated material (limit your research to essays published in the last 10 years, and books published within the last 30 years). Only use material that we have accessible within our library and only use material that is or has been in print. Please confine yourself to academic journals and books for this assignment—no Websites. Useful databases to search include the MLA, Academic Search Premier, and the Philosopher’s Index. The books should be useful in finding proper history, facts, quotes, and/or unfamiliar material to the general public.
Each annotation should begin by giving a full and complete citation for that source, listed in alphabetical order.  After this, present an evaluative analysis of a few sentences to a paragraph giving the specific relevance of that source to your topic. In addition to including a brief summary of the source, include one or more sentences that (a) evaluate the authority or background of the author, (b) comment on the intended audience, (c) compare or contrast this work with another work you have cited, or (d) explain how this work highlights your solution from your proposal. The following are example Annotated Bibliography submissions:
Power, Ronika et al. “Building Bridges: A Practical Guide to Developing and Implementing a Subject- SpecificPeer-to-Peer Academic Mentoring Program for First-Year Higher Education Students.” Asian Social Science. 7.11 (2011): 75-80. Academic Search Premier. Web. 01 Nov 2012.
This academic journal discusses how important a college education is to the nation. Having a college education also helped with students’ interaction in communities. The journal also gave statistics on college education. It discussed how the chances of receiving a degree in a reasonable amount of time were low.
Seidman, Alan. College Student Retention. 2nd ed. Maryland: Rowman& Littlefield Publishers, Inc.,2012. Print.
This book explains different factors of college student retention. It describes how students were academically unprepared if they didn’t continue to their second year of education. The book also gives statistics on retention and how it has declined over the years. Having this book in my paper can show the urgency of the issue.
Zarick, Lisa M., and Robert Stonebraker. “I’ll Do It Tomorrow.” College Teaching 57.4 (2009): 211- 215. Academic Search Premier. Web. 5 Nov. 2012.

In this periodical, scientists discover different causes of procrastination.  They’ve collected data and agreed that college students use procrastination the most.  The periodical reviews in great detail who procrastinates and when individuals procrastinate. It also discusses how to limit procrastination.  The authors look at procrastination from a psychological perspective.  This periodical helped me understand procrastination by numbers with data and examples.
