COURSEWORK BRIEF 2013/2014
BS2108 Operations Management
The coursework for this undergraduate module requires you to demonstrate your understanding of Operations Management (OM) concepts by applying these to a real world example in a descriptive and evaluative manner.
Visit any two local (Aberdeen) establishments of your choice that have open public access (for example, a clothing store, restaurant, cinema, supermarket, automotive garage, health centre). During your visit, observe and record the operations evident in this establishment, including the physical layout and processes, staff activity/movement, technology and overall environment. In your coursework, you will compare, describe and analyse both operations.
How you structure your discussion and narrative is up to you, but as a minimum, your report should do the following:
Your report should follow the recommended RGU report writing format and adhere to the word count of 4000- 4500 words. It must contain an executive summary of at most 300 words, an introduction, main body with appropriate subsections and a conclusion. You should make use of relevant theories and models throughout your coursework, and utilise relevant literature to provide an academic underpinning to your discussion.
