Guidelines for the report on The Goal:

Address the following issues in the body of the paper:

Brief synopsis (1 page or less)

Measures

Identify and discuss Jonah’s new measures (there are three)

Compare and contrast Jonah’s new measures with conventional measures

Briefly discuss bottlenecks.

Identify and discuss the concepts of drum, buffer, and rope.

Identify “the goal” of an organization. Are there exceptions? Is it generally a valid concept? Discuss.

Identify and briefly discuss one other point made in the book that stood out for you. This could be a point you agree with or disagree with. I want to be convinced that you learned something meaningful. If you didn’t, read it again and think deeper.

You may bring in outside material to illustrate any of the above points.

Make the report about 6 pages. It can go over that slightly, but try to be concise. Concise means that you pack a lot into 6 pages, not that you stopped at 4. Use 1” margins all around. Use 12-pt Times New Roman font with double-spacing. Indent the first word of paragraphs and do not skip extra lines between paragraphs.
