3000words

focus: The government is the leader. The “Law on Vocational Education” was issued in 1996. To enable vocational education to better accommodate the demands of economic re-structuring and urbanization, in recent years the government has remodeled vocational education, oriented towards obtaining employment to meet society’s ever more acute demand for high quality, skilled workers. The need for sufficient workers with different skills can be met only if education institutions provide both academic and vocational education for students. General education, as provided by normal high schools and colleges, cannot meet all the demands of the fast-changing labor market. Vocational education, on the other hand, offers an alternative institutional arrangement to effectively combine work and thus meet the demand for skilled and highly skilled workers. The government has changed the outlook and syllabi of vocational education institutions. The change comes through six core aspects, based on the State Council’s “Decisions on Advancing the Development of Modern Vocational Education”.

Summary: In this paper the author will explore why the government’s leadership is so important in the vocational education reform and what will happen if the government did not take any actions? Why the government’s leading is important? What it matters? The government’s leadership in the vocational education reform is good or bad?
