Transnational corporations need a mixture of different people from different backgrounds, race, beliefs, culture and norms, as they operate in different social set up. Despite this, every person employed by the company has to achieve his targets for the best interest of the company, a requirement that is rarely met, due to intercultural competencies.
This research will explore the need for transnational corporation to improve their cultural competencies among their employees for them to become good ambassadors of the corporations in different countries, particularly in Africa. It is common knowledge that cultural competencies affect the relationships of different employees and even between employees and employers, in the company either positively or negatively. The relationship between the corporation and the society is based on how it appreciates the culture of the society it operates in. The study will reveal how intercultural competencies contributed to company’s inefficiency and ineffectiveness in Africa. It will analyse the response to interlocking of cultures in a company, and how employees can tolerate different cultures in their workstations.

The study will make appropriate recommendations, which can be adopted by transnational corporations to improve on their intercultural competencies for proper management and operation of those companies.
