Interdisciplinary Research Proposal (10-15 pages)
This project proposal constitutes a substantive piece of work in the Liberal Studies Program. It is an opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge you have gained at San Francisco State to address a complex problem of your choosing, although your topic must be pre-approved by the instructor.  The topic or problem you choose to address provides an opportunity for you to learn something that will be beneficial to your plans after graduation.  Your project should represent a topic that interests you personally, academically, and professionally.  In previous years students have used their project proposals to obtain scholarships, jobs, or apply to graduate schools.
Your proposal must be based on addressing a complex problem that is personally relevant to you but can be studied as an academic topic.  This covers a wide range of topics in the public and private sectors.  The project proposal must include an original thesis and be supported by academic literature.
Your project proposal should be thought of as a tool to support your transition from San Francisco State to your next career. What might you contribute to a future employer?  What lies at the intersection of your personal, academic, and professional interests and how can you contribute to our larger society?
