Annotated bibliography on a topic covered in Unit One of this course. PowerPoints below
STEPS

Step 1: Choose a topic

You may choose your own topic but please limit it to a topic covered in Unit One, some ideas are:
o The theory of evolution and why it is controversial o Genetic manipulation
 Choosing a baby’s gender or other characteristics or making a “superhuman”
 Screening for deadly diseases like breast cancer
 Identifying genes that can help or hurt like Delta 32
o Cloning
 Humans
 Livestock animals for better food or extinct animals like the Wooly mammoth

Step 2: Pull 10 current articles (within 5 years is preferable but older is OK) on your topic
Some ideas for sources of articles are:
 Internet news articles, NBC, FOX, ABC, Houston Chronicle, etc.
 JSTOR peer reviewed journal articles – found in our library http://library.hccs.edu/home Magazines like Nature, National Geographic, etc.

Step 3: Annotate
Cite your article using standard citing methods like APA or MLA then write a one to two paragraph summary on each of your articles. This is considered an annotated bibliography, it is like a bibliography (citations only) but has the additional summary. There is no need to turn in a copy of your article.

Step 4: Summary Paper
Write a 2 to 3 page double spaced, 12 point font summary paper giving your conclusions and opinion on the topic that you chose. Remember there is no right or wrong opinion, back up your opinion with details from the articles.
