The concept of audience is often overlooked by students when writing in an academic setting. However, knowing your reader is an essential part of creating an authoritative essay. Have you even considered what impact does the concept of audience have on writing?

Using the readings for this module, respond to the following:
•How does the audience influence the structure, tone, word choice, and content of an essay?
•Consider the audience in a classroom setting. What assumptions might you make regarding your audience?

Write your initial response in about 150–200 words. Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Make sure to quote or paraphrase at least two outside sources in your answer.

PART 2

In this module, you learned that the nature of the audience has a significant impact on your choice of words, tone, and even content. Let us now learn how your writing might be different if you were explaining the same idea to different audience.

2.Explain your topic in 3–5 sentences to a group of fourth graders.

4.In 3–5 sentences, list the differences in these two pieces of writing. Make sure to describe all of the assumptions and adjustments you have made.
