Transgender Equality

Teacher’s instruction:
– This will be your opportunity to do research on a topic discussed in class of which you want to deepen your understanding. This is an academic-type paper where you come up with an argument (e.g., “Females are superior to Males”) and use your paper to make your case.

instruction for the paper:
– My paper topic will be transgender equality in the United States and in my home country, Indonesia.
– many people are treating transgender unequally and not humanely at all.
– sometimes they are treated as slaves and most of the time as sex slaves.
– Most of these transgenders accept these treatment by others because they need money to support their family and themselves.
– But i have never seen any changes in how people see transgenders and how people treat transgenders.
– By comparing it to the United States, especially in San Francisco, there are many organizations nowadays that actually support transgender and accept them of who they are. Although not all people but there are positive changes that people made for transgenders.
– There are many guest speakers that came to my class who are transgender. These people are Joy Ladin, Jamie Wolfe and Thea Hillman, so be sure to compare their life with the life that transgender in Indonesia are going through.
– ARGUMENT: Why can’t Indonesia do the same thing as the United States, make a positive change for these transgenders? Accept them of who they are because they are human beings just like any of us. They need acceptance! respect! and be treated equally by everyone.
