Transition from worker to supervisor

Far too often, workers are promoted to a supervisory role and are uncomfortable supervising staffs who were once their peers or taking on a leadership role in general. What are some challenges workers may face making the transition from a worker to a supervisor and why? What are some benefits to workers who make the transition to a supervisory role and why? What are some helpful tips a worker can do prior to the transition, during the transition and after the transition to ensure they become successful in their new supervisory role? Describe some things to avoid during the transition. Describe successful skills a manager/leader should maintain in his/her new role. How can the organization as a whole help in the transition?
