The purpose of the Final Paper is for you to illustrate how Family-Centered Program theories and concepts support the early childhood classroom and the child’s family.

Focus of the Final Paper

The Final Paper will illustrate how Family-Centered Program theories and concepts support the early childhood classroom and the child’s family.

Instructions

The Family-Centered approach believes that family involvement matters for a young child’s cognitive and social development. The Final Paper should address the following question:

How do educators and parents encourage desired behaviors from pre-school-aged children in both the pre-school and the home setting?

Explain strategies for teaching these behaviors to children and strategies for teaching parents how to reinforce these behaviors at home.

You must use all five of the desired behaviors listed below:

Attachment
Self-help skills
Empowerment
Pro-social skills
Self-esteem
At a minimum, this paper must include four academic resources, in addition to the course text. In addition to the academic resources, you must also reference at least one community resource for the child’s family. Remember to cite all references using APA style. The paper should be eight to ten pages in length, not including the title or reference pages.

Writing the Final Paper

The Final Paper:

Must be eight to ten double-spaced pages in length, and formatted according to APA style.

Must include a title page with the following:
Title of paper
Student’s name
Course name and number
Instructor’s name
Date submitted
Must begin with an introductory paragraph that has a succinct thesis statement.
Must address the topic of the paper with critical thought.
Must end with a conclusion that reaffirms your thesis.
Must use at least five scholarly sources, one of which may be the course text.
In addition to the five scholarly sources, the Final Paper must use at least one community resource.
Must document all sources in APA style.
Must include a separate reference page, formatted according to APA style
