1) WATCH the whole first season of the first-run, currently airing series FOX’s “EMPIRE” (available on Hulu or https://www.fox.com/empire/full-episodes)

2) THEN ANSWER THE FOLLOWING:
What formal quality or qualities (1. mise en scene; setting, costuming, lighting, actor movement, 2. camerawork, 3. narrative, 4. performance, etc) do you find most significant in the series? What consistently shapes the series as unique, interesting, etc.? Finally, consider how these formal aspects convey the cultural discourses of the series?
